Word of God star John Wall has made his decision and it is The University of Kentucky

On Tuesday morning news broke that the number one rated PG in the nation has decided to play under coach John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats.  While Calipari was at Memphis, the Tigers seemed to have the upperhand in the recruitment of Wall.  Things fizzled quickly when Calipari bolted for UK and a chance to guide on of the most storied programs in the country.

Walls long list included ACC teams Duke, NC State, Miami, and UNC.  However, most felt that the dribble-drive motion Calipari employs propelled UK to the top of the list.  Today Wall told Trianglehoops.net that the main deciding factor was the connection with Calipari and how comfortable he felt playing under him.  Wall also said his mom was "good" with his decision, so it is a done deal.

In addition to the coach and offense Kentucky has a number of alumni such as, Rex Chapman, Jamal Mashburn, Antoine Walker, Keith Bogans, and Rajon Rondo, that will provide welcomed advice on Wall's NBA aspirations.

Ironically, news of Wall serves as a prequel to tonight's NBA draft lottery.  We fully expect to hear Wall's name mentioned again a year from now when the 2010 draft lottery rolls around.  Many feel that the future Wildcat guard will be one of the top two picks in the 2010 NBA draft.  Calipari is expected to be in the Triangle for the official signing in the next 36 hours.

Wall's first NBA type test will be meshing with fellow Kentucky signee, PG Eric Bledsoe.  The will most likely share the floor for chunks of time.  Their coexistence is a big unknown heading into next season.  One thing that is for sure is that Kentucky will be a preseason favorite to win the SEC and one of the top 3 teams in the nation.  In addition to the point guards that will arrive, PF DeMarcus Cousins, SF Jon Hood, and C Daniel Horton will be the other fresh faces in Lexington.  Add those newcomers to the returning 6'9" Patrick Patterson's nearly 18ppg and 9 rebs, and opposing coaches are going to have nightmares.  This is not even factoring in the possible return of SG Jody Meeks.

No matter what happens, we think Wall will have a stellar career at UK and beyond.
